Nicknamed the "Seiko Datejust" by collectors, it is easy to see the similarities between this humble Seiko 5 and the iconic Rolex Datejust. From the fluted bezel, Jubilee style bracelet, similar proportions (36mm width) and stick hour hands it shares many attributes that the Rolex Datejust is famed for. This SNXJ89 (7S26-0500) from 2005 is in excellent condition and features an incredible sunburst style dial with a date and day window at 3 o'clock, it also has an open caseback. The watch also has a transparent caseback so you can view the movement through the window. The movement was recently serviced in January 2022 and is ready to wear for its new owner - a new gasket and new crystal was installed during this service.
The watch uses a 7S26 caliber self-winding mechanical movement that cannot be manually wound or hacked (the second hand does not stop when the crown is pulled out). It ticks 6 times per second which gives the second hand a smoother movement than quartz watches which tick once per second. The watch will run for up to 43 hours when fully wound and will self-wind when moved.
