This Rolex Submariner Date Two Tone 16613 is in excellent pre-owned condition. Cased in 18k yellow gold and stainless steel - this Submariner is not for the faint hearted. Nicknamed the "Bluesey" due to its deep blue aluminium bezel and rich sunburst dial you will definitely earn a ton of compliments with this watch. The serial of A901XXX dates this watch from 1999, likely later in the year since it features the transition to the 18K yellow gold on the middle section of the bracelet clasp while still having open holes on the exterior of the case. The crown features Rolex's "triplock" system allowing the watch to fully sealed for water wear. The dial, caseback, movement, crown, and bracelet are all signed by Rolex. The bracelet comes with full links and has very little stretch given its age and the case is still exceptionally sharp. This watch has light scratches around its aluminium bezel, hairline scratches due to its unpolished standard and minor wear around the case. Currently running at +1 seconds per day.
The Rolex Submariner - a true classic. When introduced in 1953, the model helped meet the demand that divers were looking for as the sport grew during the era. The Submariner quickly became a fashion accessory rather than a tool watch due to its uncomplicated design and tasteful charm. Most notably, seen on the wrist of James Bond in Sean Connery's day, the Submariner has captured the hearts and donned the wrists of many watch aficionados.
Personal Comments:
We think this beast of a Submariner is one to beat up as a daily wearer or maybe don on the odd occasion - you decide. Being a transitional model with having an open holes case and the 18K yellow gold clasp makes this a hard to find specification. Two tone Submariner's are becoming rarer to find in excellent condition and this example ticks all the boxes.
