This is a well-preserved example of the Rolex Submariner Date Ref. 16613, affectionately known among collectors as the “Bluesy” for its signature blue sunburst dial and matching bezel. Produced in 1989 (L94XXXX serial), this early two-tone Submariner remains in excellent overall condition and comes complete with a highly desirable full set.
The dial is in excellent condition, with vibrant colour and no visible blemishes. The hands and bezel pearl have been updated with Luminova during servicing and glow evenly, while the hour markers retain their original tritium, which has aged to a warm, creamy tone. The unidirectional bezel features the original blue aluminum insert, which shows light signs of use consistent with the watch’s age.
The 40mm stainless steel and 18k yellow gold case is in great shape no minimal dings or dents — it has been polished in the past but remains very thick and well-proportioned, with strong lugs and clear definition throughout. The Triplock crown screws down securely and the watch retains its professional dive watch integrity.
Fitted to its original two-tone Oyster 93153 bracelet, this watch includes its full set of links and the fold-out diver’s extension, ensuring a comfortable fit on all wrist sizes. It features '401B' endlinks and a clasp code marked 'P', suggesting a bracelet production around 1991. The bracelet is in great condition with minimal stretch, reflective of careful wear over the years. There are some minor scratches within the 18k yellow gold centre links.
Inside ticks the Rolex Caliber. 3135, one of the brand’s most trusted automatic movements, offering quickset date functionality and a power reserve of approximately 48 hours. The watch is currently running at an impressive +1 second per day.
Included are the original inner and outer boxes (the outer box correctly labeled '16613', though the inner box is missing its cushion), the original papers dated in 1994 (when the watch was subsequently sold), two Rolex Service Centre cards, Rolex Submariner booklet, Your Oyster booklet, a Rolex translation booklet, Rolex green leather wallet, a 2001/2002 calendar card, and a Rolex swing tag.
