Rolex GMT-Master II 'Coke' Ref. 16710 1997

This Rolex GMT-Master II Ref. 16710, dating back to 1997 (U serial), is an excellent neo-vintage example of the GMT-Master II with an iconic red and black bezel nicknamed 'Coke'. Included with the sale of this watch is the original inner box, outer box and COSC swing tag.

In 1989 Rolex updated the GMT-Master II line with the Ref. 16710. This watch featured the new Caliber. 3185 (based on the base Caliber. 3135. The most noticeable difference with the updated model was the slimmer case. This change in profile of the watch was welcomed by buyers, who had felt that the thickness of the previous ‘Fat Lady’s’ case was too much. The Ref. 16710 was a huge success and remained in the brand’s line up for 18 years until 2007.

The Rolex GMT-Master II, is the traveller's watch as the GMT function allows for the wearer to track multiple timezones by utilising the bezel and GMT hand. The Caliber. 3135 movement also allows for quickly setting the date and hour functions. Sitting at 40mm in diameter, 48mm lug to lug and 12mm in thickness it will look right at home on various wrist sizes.
