The Rolex Explorer I Ref. 114270 was produced from 2001 to 2010, when it was succeeded by the larger 39mm Ref. 214270. Within its production run from approximately 2007 onward, Rolex began engraving the rehaut — the inner bezel ring — a feature introduced across the Rolex catalogue as an additional anti-counterfeiting measure and a mark of traceability. This places the later 114270 examples, serial-engraved rehaut and all, as among the last 36mm Explorers Rolex would ever produce until the Ref. 124270.

This 2009 example carries the engraved rehaut configuration and was sold new by a New Zealand authorised dealer in the same year — a detail confirmed by the warranty card and consistent with the V-series serial. It presents in excellent overall condition, accompanied by its complete original box and papers. For the collector seeking a late-production, full-set 114270 with New Zealand provenance, this is a well-documented and compelling example of the reference at the very end of its run.
