Grand Seiko's applied branding is located just under 12 o'clock, and bold red text above 6 o'clock indicates the watch's movement. The date display is located at the 3 o'clock position and is functional via the screw down Grand Seiko-signed crown.

The stainless steel case is in extremely good condition and measures 40mm in diameter and 13.3mm in thickness. Its sharp design around the lugs harkens closely to older King Seikos and Grand Seikos of the 1960s and 1970s. At the heart of the Seiko SBGH281 is the Caliber 9S85, an automatic movement that delivers exceptional precision with a power reserve of up to 55 hours. The movement is part of the Hi-Beat 36000 series, which is a high-frequency movement that beats at 36,000 vibrations per hour. The watch also features a unique three-fold clasp with a push-button release, providing a secure and comfortable fit for the wearer. The bracelet is in excellent condition with minimal wear, and it is also provided with full links.

The SBGH281 was created in honor of the brand's 60th anniversary; the Grand Seiko symbol is in gold, and the seconds hand is in a vivid red, colours that are meant to symbolise a sunrise and all the new energy that a new dawn brings.
