This specific Seiko Speedmaster Quartz Chronograph Ref. 7A28-7040 is 40.5mm in diameter and 11mm in thickness. As you can immediately tell it resembles ever so closely to the Omega Speedmaster. Put into production in 1980, several actors have worn this watch in their movies, the most famous of them being Ellen Ripley in the “Alien” movie series. The watch case has a sci-fi-esque finish in matte grey, with three pushers and a crown on the sides of the case. The pushers function as they should with 2 o'clock stopping the chronograph, 4 o'clock resetting the chronograph and 10 o'clock providing the split time function.
More importantly the 7A28 movement was the world's first quartz analog chronograph movement. A massive step forward by Seiko who were at the forefront of technology and development.
Condition Report:
The watch is in overall good condition as it has grown charm and character with its age. Minor hairline scratches are prevalent in the case and bracelet, with some marks on the bezel. It sits perfectly on all wrist types as it comes with full links - which are folded over making it extra comfortable to wear. This watch is dated for 1982 and is currently running well.
